Social Science Perspectives on Educational Policy
The College of Education at Arizona State University seeks a
professor in the area of social science perspectives on
educational policy. Rank of this position may be at the level
of assistant, associate or full professor. The successful
candidate will have a background in one or more of the
following academic disciplines: economics, political science,
sociology, or history with an emphasis on the study of
educational policy. He or she will teach courses in one or
more of these areas and related areas as deemed appropriate.
He or she will advise and mentor students, direct thesis and
dissertation research, and perform service normally expected
of a faculty member. In addition, the successful candidate
will be expected to pursue a program of funded and unfunded
research related to issues of educational policy. The College
of Education encourages collaboration with faculty in other
program areas.
Required qualifications for the position are: a) an earned
doctorate in political science or politics of education,
sociology or sociology of education, history or history of
education, or other field related to educational policy;
b) demonstrated ability or potential to chair dissertations,
a record and potential for outstanding teaching, and advise
students, appropriate to rank; c) a record of scholarly
productivity appropriate to rank and relevant to educational
policy studies.
Desired qualifications for the position include: a) a record
of successful collaborative research efforts; b) evidence of
excellent communicative skills c) a program of scholarship in
topics related to educational policy.

until the position is filled.
