Beyond NCLB: Fullfilling the Promise to Our Nation's Children
On February 13, 2007, at 9:30 AM, the Commission on No Child Left Behind released its final report and recommendations during a widely attended public event on Capitol Hill in Washington DC. The Commission, a bipartisan, independent effort dedicated to improving the No Child Left Behind Act, has spent the last year traveling across the country, listening to the experiences of students, educators, parents, administrators, state and district officials, experts and policymakers. This report is the product of our information gathering and outlines specific and actionable recommendations for establishing a high-achieving education system. We are confident that, taken as a whole, our recommendations will close achievement gaps and raise expectations for all, so that we can fulfill the promise of high achievement and success for every student, in every school.
